Speak Up

Updated: Dec 4, 2021

Learning to compromise is important in all our relationships. It speaks to your loved one that you are willing to meet them at a point where everyone can live comfortably with a decision or choice. But what happens when you feel like you are the only one compromising in the relationship?

Relationship means the way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave toward each other. Each other means there has to be a behavior from each person within the relationship. When a person is compromising more than the other, things become unbalanced. One may feel used or even ignored. There is a point were compromise can turn to conforming. Conform means (of a person) to behave according to socially acceptable conventions or standards. In this behavior it is one-sided.

Often times we bend or compromise so much we lose a sense of what is important to us. This brings feelings of frustration, depression and neglect. We can argue and get upset but those actions normally cause bigger problems. We must remember that we have to remember that we do not have the authority to change another person however, we can make decisions based off what is best for ourselves.

Therefore, SPEAK UP. No one is going to know how you feel unless you communicate those feelings to your loved ones. It doesn't have to be said out of anger or frustration. When the time is right and your have your loved one's attention, express how you feel in a loving and caring manner. In turn, be open to hear how your loved one is receiving what you expressed.

Communication is at two way channel and lack of it, causes all sorts of problems. Speak up !
